If another dentist has recommended a large treatment plan and something about it doesn't sit right — the cost, the urgency, or just wanting to understand your options better — getting a second opinion is a completely normal, reasonable step. It's not about doubting a diagnosis out of spite; it's about making sure a big decision is one you actually understand.
When a Second Opinion Is Worth Getting
It's especially worth it before any large, expensive, or irreversible treatment — multiple crowns, full-mouth reconstruction, extractions, or implants — or any time you're told something needs to happen immediately and you don't have a clear sense of why. A second set of eyes can confirm the plan is right, or occasionally suggest a more conservative alternative.
What to Bring
Recent X-rays and a written or verbal summary of what was recommended (and why) make a second-opinion visit far more useful, since it avoids repeating imaging you may not need. If you don't have copies, most offices will send them to us directly if you ask, or we can take new ones if needed.
What to Expect From Us
We'll examine the area in question, review your imaging, and walk through our own honest read — whether that confirms the original plan, suggests a different approach, or raises questions worth asking the original provider. We'll never pressure you into treatment you're not sure about; that's part of how we practice with every patient, second opinion or not.
