Starting with a new dentist means walking in without knowing quite what to expect, which is its own small source of stress. Here's a straightforward walkthrough of what actually happens at a first visit with us.
Before You Arrive
New patient forms are available online through our Patient Information page, and filling them out ahead of time saves you paperwork in the waiting room. Bring a photo ID and your insurance card if you have one, along with a list of any medications you're taking.
The Exam
Your first visit typically includes a full oral exam, X-rays if you're due for them or don't have recent ones on file, an oral cancer screening, and a conversation about your dental history and any concerns you want to raise — sensitivity, an old filling that's bothering you, cosmetic goals, anything at all. We'll also do a cleaning at this visit if time allows, or schedule it separately if there's more to cover first.
After the Exam
We'll walk you through anything we found in plain language — no jargon, no pressure toward treatment you don't need or aren't ready for — and put together a plan together if anything needs attention. If you have insurance, our team verifies your benefits and gives you a clear estimate before any treatment begins.
