Teeth Whitening

Ready to Whiten Your Teeth Without Damaging Them?

Teeth Whitening is a cosmetic dental procedure used to remove stains and whiten the teeth in just one appointment. During a teeth whitening procedure, a whitening agent is applied to the teeth that breaks apart discolored molecules, removing stains and brightening the color of your teeth.

Tooth enamel is porous, meaning that it absorbs colored pigments from the foods and beverages we consume.

Overtime, these pigments collect and cause the teeth to look dull and stained.

Stains can also form on the teeth from smoking, medications, and poor oral hygiene. According to the American Dental Association, teeth whitening is one of the most common cosmetic dental treatments. This is likely because teeth whitening is easy, effective, and affordable.

We provide general, cosmetic, implant dentistry, and preventative dental education in a caring, unhurried, state-of-the-art environment.

Boris Zusin is an expert in cosmetic and restorative dentistry. He has taken numerous high-level continuing education courses in these areas, and is also an active member of several professional dental organizations.

"They are thorough, they don't try and upsell you services you don't need"

I tried a couple different dentists in NYC and Zusin Dental is the best. They are thorough, they don't try and upsell you services you don't need, and they offer appointments on Saturday.

How long do teeth whitening results last?

Teeth whitening results can last anywhere from six months to three years, with the average being about a year. If you maintain a healthy oral homecare routine, and limit highly pigmented foods and beverages, your teeth will stay whiter longer. However, if you continue to consume foods and beverages that cause stains to form on your teeth, the color of your teeth may gradually return. Dr. Zusin may provide you with take home trays to use in order to maintain your whitening results for a longer period of time.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Am I a candidate for teeth whitening?

You may be a candidate for teeth whitening if you have teeth that have become stained as a result of foods, beverages, smoking, or oral hygiene habits. However, stains caused by medications may or may not respond to whitening treatments. Your teeth will also need to be free from decay in order to be whitened.

How do professional whitening treatments differ from over the counter treatments?

Whitening procedures performed by cosmetic dental professionals typically result in faster and more dramatic changes to the color of your teeth compared to do-it-yourself kits you can buy at a drugstore. This is because professional whitening treatments use a stronger concentration of whitening agent than what is found in over the counter treatments. These professional whitening treatments are usually applied by a dentist during an in office visit, but some cosmetic dentists offer take home treatments as well.

What can I expect when having my teeth whitened at Zusin Dental?

When having your teeth whitened at Zusin Dental, your cosmetic dentist, Dr. Boris Zusin, will first cover your lips and gums with a protective shield to prevent irritation. The he will apply a whitening agent to the surface of your teeth. You will relax in the dental chair for about 30-60 minutes so the whitening agent can be absorbed into your teeth. Afterwards, the whitening agent will be rinsed off your teeth and the protective shield will be removed.

What can I expect after having my teeth whitened?

After your teeth are whitened, your teeth will be temporarily sensitive to hot and cold. Fortunately, this is only temporary and sensitivity typically subsides within a few days. You will want to avoid highly pigmented foods and beverages in the first 24 hours after having your teeth whitened so that you can get the best results. This is because the whitening agent will continue to remove stains for up to 24 hours after its application.
