Dentures

Ready To Regain Control Of Your Life?

Dentures, also known as false teeth, are prosthetic devices which substitute missing teeth. Dentures can be manufactured from acrylic resin and metal frame material.

Around 23 million Americans are completely edentulous, meaning that they have no teeth. Around 90% have dentures.

There are two main types of dentures: full and partial.

Full dentures are an entire arch of missing teeth, while partial dentures may only replace one or more missing teeth. Partial dentures can be used with existing teeth, whereas full dentures can only be used when all the teeth have fallen out or have been removed.

We provide general, cosmetic, implant dentistry, and preventative dental education in a caring, unhurried, state-of-the-art environment.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Am I a candidate for dentures?

You may be a candidate for dentures if you are missing all or some of your natural teeth. If missing teeth are affecting your diet, speech, or facial structure, then you may want to consider having dentures fitted.  You will be assessed by Dr. Zusin during a consultation appointment to determine whether you are suitable for complete or partial dentures.

What is involved in fitting dentures?

The initial appointment is usually longer than subsequent appointments. A dentist will create a set of impressions of your teeth, which are sent to a dental laboratory where they are used to make the dentures. This process may take several weeks. Once the dentures are ready, you will be scheduled for your first fitting appointment. Throughout the fabrication process, you will attend fitting appointments to ensure the denture is a perfect fit once it has been completed.

What can I expect when wearing dentures?

When you first wear your dentures, you may experience some slight discomfort as your gums adapt to the denture. You may also struggle to keep the denture in place until you learn how to hold the denture using certain facial muscles. For this reason, it is recommended to start out eating soft foods until you can chew without discomfort and are better coordinated at using your dentures.

How long do dentures last?

Dentures can last for several years if good care is provided and maintained according to the dentist’s instructions. Regular dental visits can ensure denture problems are caught early and adjustments are made as needed.

How do I care for my dentures?

It is important to ensure your dentures are properly taken care of. Dentures need to be brushed twice a day with a toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste. You should also brush the inside surfaces where your gums meet the denture,  as well as your gums. Dentures should be taken out at night to give your mouth a rest from wearing them, and they should always be stored in a denture solution when not in your mouth.  Dr. Zusin will also provide you with specific care instructions on caring for your dentures.
